Sitagliptin is a medication that acts as a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. DPP-4 is a type of enzyme found in the body that is responsible for breaking down hormones that help to regulate blood sugar levels. By inhibiting the action of DPP-4, sitagliptin helps to increase the levels of these helpful hormones, which in turn stimulates insulin production and lowers blood glucose levels.
